Where to stay

If you’re looking for a European getaway

without the airfare or hassle with international

travel, then you’re in luck. There will be 13

hotels and resorts on The Heart of Europe,

with the orst, Portoono, to be completed this

year. Portoono is a ove-star hotel, dedicated

to families only. On the Main Europe island

there’s also set to be the Côte d’Azur Hotel,

with 839 suites and deluxe apartments, as

well as London Hotel, a boutique ove-star

hotel with just 115 rooms, and Scandinavian

Hotel “balancing Danish design with ancient

Nordic roots”. Munich Hotel is “futuristic” and

will offer the latest technology, Ikaria Hotel will

be a Mediterranean-style property promoting

“active living and organic food”, while there’s

also the super luxurious Tzar Hotel, the family-

friendly Marbella Hotel and “party” place Ibiza

Hotel, where you can expect pool and beach

shindigs. Want something Italian? There’s

The Floating Venice island, which promises

underwater living and Venice-esque lifestyle,

think gondola rides and more. And onally, if

you’re after a pet-friendly stay, then there’s

Amsterdam Hotel. That’s Fido packing his

bags, too.

A special wedding venue

Destination weddings are all the rage

these days, and for a fancy gathering there will

be the Empress Elisabeth Hotel – a dedicated

wedding hotel located at The Gate.

Under the sea

You know the song (well, if you’re a Disney

fan, that is) but now you have a chance

to literally be under the sea. The Floating

Seahorses will be built around Germany

and St. Petersburg Islands (mostly around

the latter) and Time Out Dubai went down

to check them out (visit http://www.youtube.com/

timeoutdubai). There’s currently only one

completed, but there will be 150 in total.

They cost Dhs16million each (get saving

up), and start at 4,004 sq ft. Arrive by boat

and disembark on to one of the coolest

properties we’ve seen yet. Not only is there

a sea deck with over-water hammock, there’s

a party rooftop with a huge glass-bottomed

Jacuzzi and dining area. This is a home,

after all, so expect a fully-furnished kitchen,

living space and more – but with oxtures

from Bentley Home, rather than the discount

mall. The piéce de rèsistance? The lower
