St. Petersburg Island aimed to attract

Heart of Europe’s own coral nursery when

it’s completed. This year around 500 rare

seahorses were born at the Kleindienst

Marine Life Science Centre, which is working

with expert ecologists to improve the marine

systems around the islands. It’s not all under

the sea though, the pora and fauna on the

islands is also fascinating – and includes

Mediterranean trees that range from 100 to

1,500 years old that have been imported from

Andalucia. Sweden Island alone boasts 67

species of plants, trees and shrubs as well as

a privately owned beach and coral reef.

Parties, oreworks and... Oktoberfest?

Well it is The Heart of Europe after all,

so what’s a more European knees-up than

Oktoberfest? The world-famous party will take

place on Germany Island, which will also

host grape festivals and Christmas

markets. Plans also a daily “night

show spectacular” including

oreworks, light shows and
