THE RESTAURANT

The Restaurant in the re-opened
Address Downtown is laid out like a
home, with a lounge, kitchen and more.
fOpen daily 6.30am-midnight.
Address Downtown (04 888 3444).

3
THE VEG
A spicy dhal full of fresh
flavours is a lighter
alternative to meat. Soak
pieces of the puttu in
it and enjoy a healthy,
protein-packed dish that
makes a satisfying meal,
any time of the day.

2
THE MEAT
Fried chicken marinated
in a plethora of fiery
spices is complemented
perfectly by the coconut
rice rolls. Use the puttu
to mop up those
delicious flavours.

THE PLACE
This restaurant from
south Indian actor Dileep
opened at the end of
last year. It’s simply
about puttu – ground
rice and coconut rolled
into cylinders and served
with meat or veg – and
people come here for it
in droves.

4
THE PRICE
At just over Dhs50 for
two, it’s no wonder this
place is heaving. It’s a
simple idea that works,
and is great if you’re
dining with the whole
family on a budget.

The Fish House

Charming restaurant that delivers on taste and value

Open Sun-Thu noon-3pm,
7pm-11pm; Fri-Sat 12.30pm-
3.30pm, 7pm-11.30pm.
Licensed. InterContinental
Dubai Festival City
(04 701 1127).

We’re not usually huge fans
of osh counter-style seafood
restaurants. You know the type,
choose a osh from a display,
pick from a couple of ways of
cooking it and hope it doesn’t
cost you an arm and a leg by the
time the chef weighs it.
However, this charming
restaurant – all light blues,
white and turquoise inside, with
a lovely terrace overlooking
the Creek outside – may have
changed our minds.
The super staff explain the
catch of the day conundrum
and we go for red snapper. Half
of the 2.8kg beast is enough
for two (and it comes with two
sides and two sauces). We
get it grilled and the charred,

crispy skin as delicious as the
brilliant white pesh is paky and
meaty. It’s more than enough,
especially with sweet potato
fries and roasted root veg on the
side. Of the sauces, the zingy
chermoula outshines a rather
bland cumin rouille.
We also order a ceviche from
the specials board, and while

it’s nothing like the Peruvian
staple, it is top-notch. A vibrant
kale salad is tasty and grilled
octopus also hits the spot.
Great views, good-value
dishes and top service. An
excellent option for osh fans.

THE BOTTOM LINE A lovely
addition to this part of town.

Open Sat-Thu noon-midnight, Fri noon-1am. Unlicensed. Karama (04 347 7774).
