    In good weather, proceedings
take place on the terrace, which
    is bright and feels liberating
    compared to inside, which
    is overbearingly dark for a
    daytime feast, but is urban
    and cool nonetheless.
When we walk in at 1.30pm,
the party atmosphere is in full

swing, but this isn’t the kind
of shindig where boisterous
groups sing to the tunes being
played by the DJ at the tops of
their voices or throw shapes in
any free space between tables.
It’s a more adult do with an
older crowd. But still a party,
fear not.
The DJ plays chilled-out soulful
beats from Michael Jackson
(from his Off The Wall days),
Diana Ross, Tina Turner and
Maze. It eases you into the
afternoon perfectly.
This brunch is à la carte. You
can order as many bar bites
as you like, as frequently as

of main course, which is then
served later on. And it’s all
absolutely delicious.
The diced salmon ceviche
with coconut leche de tigre,
fennel, cucumber and chilli is
a light, refreshing start to the
afternoon. The sweet, meaty
lobster tacos with mango and
avocado also go down a treat.
Staff pace around keeping
an eagle eye on glasses and
ensuring everyone is topped up.

As the afternoon draws on, a
live electronic violinist stuns us
all with her exceptional talent
as she plays to a groovy dance
backing track from the DJ.
After a small breather, and
as some brunchers – those
celebrating anniversaries in
small groups – begin to leave
their chairs for a bit of a boogie
to the DJ’s funky beats, we
ask for our main course to
be served.
