Good Advice
ALL FOR
ONE, ONE
FOR ALL
used for advance exploratory
expeditions when there is a
sighting of land.
We understand that there
are times when life gets
rough, and the temptation
may be to turn a blind eye to
brewing problems. But the
balm of family togetherness
won’t always be a strong
enough cure for real-life
issues—especially when it
is actually possible to find
solutions to these issues in
the first place. What’s worse
is when any family member
who wants to move forward
is labeled as selfish, self-
centered, and as someone
who is abandoning the family.

brave and realistic ones to
set sail on those exploratory
missions—or better yet,
support them—having to
“all go down together” can
even be avoided.

when faced alone will seem
so much more surmountable
when you have your family
working by your side.
Unfortunately, sometimes this
saying can be used to fuel
a defeatist mindset that,
when embraced by every
member of a family, can lead
to its stagnation. It might
sound noble to say, “if the
ship sinks, we sink together,”
but what about trying to
save the ship, or swimming
to safety? To further the
analogy, big ships always
have lifeboats on board. And
these smaller vessels are also
...but what if you want
to strike out on
your own?
