Bengaluru-based Srishti Communications won the
exclusive media rights at the Trivandrum International
Airport for a period of 10 years. The contract provides
for the OOH firm to design, develop, operate and market
the media assets at the airport’s real estate covering
two terminals – Terminal 1 where most domestic
airlines operate (except Air India and Jet Airways) and
Terminal 2 where international airlines operate, as
well as domestic flights operated by Air India and Jet
Airways.
Trivandrum International Airport handles a large number
of domestic flights that connect with different parts
of the country and is well connected with the Middle
East and western capitals. In 2017 the airport handled
48,89,991 passengers. The upcoming Vizhinjam port
which is just 20 km away from Thiruvanthapuram will
also help augment passenger traffic at the airport.
Pertinent to add that the city is an academic hub of
Kerala with the presence of top institutions like ISRO
(Indian Space Research Organisation), Vikram Sarabhai
Space Centre (VSSC), etc.
Commenting on the way forward for the airport
media business, S Kumar,
Promoter Director, Srishti
Group, says that the high
level of international
passenger traffic at the
airport is a big factor drawing
brand advertisers to the
media. Government bodies
like tourism boards are very
actively advertising at the
On DOOH, he observes that the digital medium attracts
over half of Indian population i.e. our burgeoning
discerning youth buyers. “They seek more information
prior to the simplest of purchases through the digital
medium and hence state-of-art digital media from
across the globe including 3D holographic solutions
are already in the pipeline. We are extremely bullish
on digital media and expect a good ROI on our
investments.”
Khushi Advertising has managed several brand
activations at the airports with “tremendous response.
STAR TV launched their thriller TV serial by placing a
huge 10' hand cutout at arrivals, UM Bikes showcased
their high-end cruiser bike with camp-like off-roader
ambience. A drip irrigated vertical green planter media
stand is generating a lot of goodwill amongst people
who love green but lack space. We have kiosks where
financial publications keep updating their view on our
bourses and the economy. Khushi believes that every
passenger is a consumer and his decisions can be
influenced by topical and planned activations.”
“I am very happy and proud to share that brands
at our airports will be visible to over 2.53 million
consumers every year. Clients love the fact that they
get assured visibility from their desired TG by branding
at our airports. The fact that these very passengers are
decision makers with perennial time paucity but have
some precious spare moments at the airport make it
our USP,” he says on a concluding note.
