in the Health on motherhood.
Women have so many doubts
when they embrace mother-
hood. I am sure Baby Steps will
clear their doubts.

Few changes
Yes, PCOS can be corrected
by changes in diet (‘Wayward
hormones’, July 15). Basically,
there are different medicines to
treat different symptoms. There
are many people who them-
selves decide that they have
this disorder, which is not right.
They should consult a doctor.
Weight reduction, by exercising
daily, and eating the right food,
will drastically bring down the
PCOS symptoms in women.
Many Indian women have this
problem. Like diabetes, PCOS
can be cured to a large extent
with medications and lifestyle
changes. PCOS varies from
woman to woman and genes
play a role. Eating healthy
food and exercising regularly
will help us fi ght PCOS. Also,
it is important to remain
stress-free.

Don’t worry
I am glad to know that innova-
tive technology is increasing
the success rate of knee-re-
placement surgeries (July 15).
Knee problems are quite com-
mon in India. Knee replace-
ment surgeries get complicated
in some cases as it involves the
transfusion of blood. But that
should not worry us.

Change the

lifestyle
The Bodyscape on hot fl ash
was interesting (July 15). I was
not aware that even men get
hot fl ashes. I always consid-
ered it as common symptom of
menopausal transition.
Stress and anxiety causes
hot fl ashes in many people.
Sudden sweating and fl ushing
can become really frustrating.
Things like hot fl ashes can be
controlled to a large extent if
we control our lifestyle.

Congrats,

Health team
I would like to congratulate
the Health magazine. There
is so much information in it. I
especially like the yoga section,
which is very useful. I now
want you to make the front
and back pages of the maga-
zine more attractive.

Good beginning
The new column—Baby
Steps—was informative. This
column will defi nitely go a
long way in clearing doubts
from the minds of expectant
mothers. It will help remove
their worries and apprehen-
sions.
Kudos to the Health team for
including the column in the
supplement.
