UNFRIENDED: DARK WEB
RELEASED: 10 August
DIRECTOR: Stephen Susco
DISTRIBUTOR: Universal
The follow-up to the savagely entertaining and gleefully mean-spirited
real-time Skype horror hit SXSW earlier this year having been kept
largely under wraps, and we can’t wait to see if it’ll deliver the same
kind of wicked shocks as its predecessor. After fi nding a laptop with
horrifying videos on, an unlucky teen sets up himself and his friends
as the target of a cabal of terrifying dark web monsters... Expect a lot
of gruesome deaths, cameras cutting out just at the wrong time and
deeply sinister messaging.

HALLOWEEN
RELEASED: 19 October
DIRECTOR: David Gordon Green
DISTRIBUTOR: Universal
Expectations are high for this surprisingly prestigious return to
Haddonfi eld, which brings back Jamie Lee Curtis for one last outing
as Laurie Strode and has John Carpenter on board as a producer and
composer. Long-time collaborators David Gordon Green and Danny
McBride are behind this sequel that writes out all entries since the
fi rst and fi nds a damaged but battle-ready Laurie champing at the bit
to protect her family from Michael Myers. Given the assembled talent
we’re struggling to keep our expectations at a reasonable level.

US
RELEASED: 15 March 2019
DIRECTOR: Jordan Peele
DISTRIBUTOR: Universal
Details are not forthcoming for Jordan Peele’s Get Out
follow-up. What we do know is that it’s another ‘social thriller’
horror, focusing on two couples (one black, one white). The casting
is as strong as you’d expect, with Lupita Nyong’o, Elisabeth Moss,
Winston Duke and Tim Heidecker playing the four leads. The pressure
is on Peele to deliver following Get Out’s incredible success (which
included but was absolutely not limited to winning Best Screenplay at
the Oscars) but we’re confi dent he’s got the goods to shock and thrill
us with his second effort.

GLASS
RELEASED: 18 January 2019
DIRECTOR: M Night Shyamalan
DISTRIBUTOR: Universal
Massive spoilers ahead for anyone who has yet to watch
M Night Shyamalan’s blockbuster Split... but it was revealed that
the multiple personality horror was set in the same universe as
Unbreakable, teeing up a confrontation between David Dunn (Bruce
Willis), Mr Glass (Samuel L Jackson) and The Beast (James McAvoy).
We’ll be interested to see if and how Spl it’s horror stylings fi t into the
low-key drama of Unbreakable. Expect maximum secrecy.
