PURSUIT OF

SHRED VALUE

Corporate social responsibility (CSR) has become one of the
standard business practices of our time. There has been a

significant increase in CSR projects undertaken by businesses

in Oman. Far from being a marketing gimmick, corporates

in Oman are contributing to the social and economic

development of the Sultanate, through CSR, ICV programme
and other socially committed initiatives.

However, CSR is viewed different from philanthropy. When

properly implemented, it should become ingrained in the

values and culture of a company, and positively affect the way

the company does its business. Positive social responsibility

improves a company’s public image and relationship with
consumers. Some companies have made CSR a core and

inseparable component of their overall service or product

offering, with policies and procedures which integrate social,

environmental, ethical and consumer concerns into business

operations and core strategy.

In the following pages, OER is featuring the CSR initiatives
of some of Oman’s leading companies who have integrated

social investment with their business strategies. Muhammed
