right from the first semester is
a mandatory foreign language,
such as Japanese, German,
Korean, French and Chinese.
Training in professional eth-
ics, soft skills, quantitative
aptitude, communication and
reasoning skills and verbal
aptitude is also provided.
What the government
should do
Plug the gap in industry-aca-
demia collaboration. Though a
lot has been deliberated upon,
not much has been happening
to connect academic institu-
tions with industry. In the
West, especially in Europe,
industry drives academic
institutions. Our efforts to
synergise academic institu-
tions with industry have not
provided expected yields. If
at all a policy push is required
from the government, I think
this is one field it is needed in.
