ABBREVIATIONS
Many of the major research collections in the field have been published in multiple
editions, and many of these are commonly cited by abbreviation. To avoid confusion
concerning which edition is intended we have added the date of the edition after the
first occurrence of the abbreviation in the author’s text. Thus, one might read “BZ
(1912–22)” or “BZ (1978–83)” depending on the edition being used.
