BLACK OR HOUSE RAT Rattus rattus
Identification These are large rats, the more heavily built Brown Rat
especially, with long tails. The Brown Rat’s tail is shorter than the
Black Rat’s, and it has proportionally shorter ears. The coat colour in
both species is extremely variable.

Weight Brown Rat 300 g; Black Rat 150 g.
