Habitat and Behaviour This is a fox of mountainous and rugged hill
country (although it avoids high altitudes), and a strong preference
for rocky and steep mountain slopes adjacent to gravel and sand
plains (but onto which it seldom ventures). It is able to ascend and
descend vertical and loose rock cliffs with amazing agility. Blanford’s
Foxes eat large quantities of wild and cultivated fruits, as well as
considerable numbers of invertebrates. Small rodents and lizards are
also hunted. This fox is strictly nocturnal and lives in monogamous
pairs within relatively small, defended territories. Where it is not
hunted or disturbed it readily enters camps. Litters of 1–3 pups, each
