Aaron Gan
Singaporean Aaron Gan has made major
breakthroughs since he began his journey as a
full-time watercolourist six years ago. he 3 9-year-
old Gold winner of the 20 15 UOB Painting of
the Year Award and Art Ambassador for Faber-
Castell, Singapore, Gan explains, “I started by
learningfromhow-toartbooksandDVDs.Plein
airwas part of the learning process as the need
for spontaneous execution hones my drawing
instincts and observation skills. I also joined
sketchwalks organised by USk Singapore and
painting sessions by the Singapore Watercolour
Society.Forinsightsintotheessenceofgreatart,
I also learnt Western and Eastern techniques.”
Gan has recently begun creating art for fashion
labels. His collaboration with Yinghe Label
resulted in the production of a limited edition line
of apparel using Gan’s original paintings.

time a fashion designer has used a prominent
local artist’s paintings in its garment design.
