IFR Asia - 15.09.2018

(Steven Felgate) #1
Taking place on Saturday October 13 2018 at the 2018 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and
World Bank Group, this IFR seminar will bring together public and private sector participants to discuss ways to deepen
the capital markets in South and South-East Asia.

With a special focus on financing sustainable development, this panel discussion will highlight recent progress in
mobilising institutional investors to support economic growth in India and the ASEAN economies. Moderated by IFR
Asia’s Editor, Steve Garton, the panelists will debate ways to promote local and international debt capital markets as an
alternative to bank financing, and provide insight on the growth of demand for sustainable and responsible investments.

Topics to be discussed will include:

  • How can countries in the region make their capital markets more attractive to long-term investors, both local and
    international?

  • What is holding back Asian institutional investors from the region’s capital markets?

  • How can multilateral development banks help mobilize institutional investors?

  • What opportunities does Asia offer for green and sustainable investors?

  • How can Asian issuers improve their access to long-term capital?

  • What are the benefits and risks of opening up to international capital flows?
