• Balance and proportion: Always vary
  the shape, size, texture and colour
  of items you buy, but make sure the
  composition works; for example,
  combine an antique console table with
  modern glass lamps.


• 3 to 5 golden rule: When accessorising,
  use three to five pieces in a setting to
  balance the space without making it
  look cluttered.


• Contrast: Mix hard with soft, round
