A WORD FROM
THE SCHOOL
AIS is the only school in
Singapore to offer the best of
the International Baccalaureate
and the Australian curriculum
for students aged 18 months
to 18 years, and we aim to
develop well-rounded
students by nurturing their
talents, whether on the sports
field, in the classroom or in
the arts. As a non-selective
school, AIS offers opportunities
for all students regardless of
academic ability, yet continues
to achieve outstanding results.

WHAT’S NEW?
The Infant Care Program
at the Early Learning Village
was launched in 2018, offering
full-time care for babies aged 2
months to 18 months. Housed
in a dedicated Infant Care Pod,
the programme tailors to each
infant’s needs and preferences,
mirroring the family home
routine.

A family’s perspective
Parents: Dawn and Brandon Chia
Child: Kimberlyn (3)

We chose AIS for three main factors: the nurturing environment
that builds resilience and curiosity; the qualifications, experience and
attitude of the school’s leadership team and its teachers; and the large
campus with facilities for sports, outdoor play and extra-curricular
activities. Kimberlyn loves the school, her friends and especially
her teachers. She feels a great sense of belonging to the school. She
loves playing at the playground with her friends after school, too.
The AIS curriculum draws on the principles of Reggio Emilia
philosophy, with the inquiry-based approach of the IB Primary Years
Programme introduced from age three. While I had initial reservations
about the Reggio Emilia approach, I’m now convinced of its merits. It
has inspired me to change my “tiger mum” mentality and approach
Kimberlyn’s learning with the same philosophy at home.
