Expat Living City Guide – June 2018

(C. Jardin) #1
With family: Bintan (Trikora Beach Resort), Perth
(Margaret River), Vietnam and Bali (more peace and
quiet). Without family: Siem Reap, Vietnam, and
big buzzing cities like Bangkok and Hong Kong. –
Alexandra
Bali, without a doubt! – Ankita
It has to be Bali, where we got married! It gets
better and better every time I visit: shopping and
hip restaurants in Seminyak, laidback surf vibe in
Canggu, culture and spirituality in Ubud or temples
in Uluwatu. It certainly deserves its moniker, “Island
of the Gods”. – Beth

Bali! It has so much to offer and something
for everyone; you can’t beat it, even during an
active volcano eruption (which I was there for last
November!). Plus, the shopping there is divine!

We don’t have one particular getaway as we
travel a lot being located in Singapore, though I
must say that the Maldives is one of my favourites.

Telunas was the most relaxing holiday we’ve been
on because, once you’re there, there’s not much
more to do than relax. We’ve also been to Langkawi,
which is easy to get to and not overly expensive.
If you stay at Meritus Pelangi Beach, you can walk
out to some local restaurants, unlike at some of the
high-end resorts where you’re pretty much stuck at
the hotel with Singapore prices! – Lisa
I’d say either Phuket or Bali. Both are so close,
have fantastic beaches and some great places to
    catch some waves! – Mel
Canggu in Bali; also, Batu Batu is high up on our
list of upcoming places to try! – Sophie

TRAVEL HOTSPOTS
There are so many
fabulous getaways right
on Singapore’s doorstep.
We asked our panellists
to run through their
favourite destinations.
