Expat Living City Guide – June 2018

(C. Jardin) #1

Amy Brook-Partridge
Neighbourhood: Bukit Timah

For the past five years, I’ve lived in
Watten Estate, just off Bukit Timah
Road. It’s a cluster house, which means we have a
shared pool, gym and function room.

Reasons for living here: We originally lived in
River Valley in a condo, but wanted more space and
more greenery, and found we could get both those
things once we moved further out. We love the area,
the community and all of the amenities around it.

Public transport: Tan Kah Kee MRT, on the
Downtown Line, opened up last year and is a six-
minute walk away.

Best green space: The Botanic Gardens, a ten-
minute walk away.

Local amenities: There’s a large FairPrice
supermarket at Coronation Plaza, where
you’ll also find hairdressers, nail salons and
plenty of stores selling pretty much anything
you might need. The nearest GP is Sixth
Avenue, a bus ride away.

Local recommendations: Peperoni Pizza
is a great family-friendly restaurant on
Greenwood Avenue, and round the corner
you’ll find La Braceria, another Italian spot
and great for a date-night dinner or just
a glass of wine. Adept Therapy at Serene
Centre does the best foot reflexology, and
Cluny Court is a good place for gifts.
