A LUXURY STAY
IN RWANDA
The second addition to the Nature Resorts portfolio
of luxury resort group One&Only, Nyungwe House
opens on 1 October. Set among the southwestern
mountains of Rwanda, in a working tea plantation on
the edge of the East African rainforest, the property
draws inspiration from local Rwandan culture and
craftsmanship. Birdwatching and stargazing are offered
alongside treks with chimpanzees, and guests are given
the option to participate in the local social initiative,
Umuganda, which involves residents giving back to
the local community. There is a focus on farm-to-table
dining and the 23 guest rooms offer sprawling private
decks that afford unsurpassable views of the surrounds.

MEETS
The theme of The Costume Institute’s
spring 2018 exhibition was celebrated at
The Costume Institute Gala in May, where
celebrities from Rihanna to Sarah Jessica
Parker showed off their interpretations
of the discourse between fashion and
Catholicism. Heavenly Bodies: Fashion
and the Catholic Imagination runs until
8 October at New York’s Metropolitan
Museum of Art, featuring 40 ecclesiastical
masterpieces taken from the Sistine
Chapel sacristy alongside 150 fashion
ensembles dating from the early 1900s
to the present. Many of the papal
vestments and accessories, including
rings and tiaras, are being shown outside
the Vatican for the first time.
