alum Dan Kois enacts both a fantasy and a gonzo
experiment, dragging his wife and two preteen
daughters on a yearlong exploration of parenting
styles around the world. After settling in Costa
Rica, New Zealand, the Netherlands, and small-
town Kansas for months at a time, Kois winsomely

Brooklyn with Sam Anderson, author of the excel-
lent Oklahoma City history Boom Town. b.k.

Joan Tewkesbury on September 21. d.e.

who lost her battle with cancer when the singer
was young. The new set is a deeper exploration of
the gobsmacking vocals and guitar playing that
are Howard’s trademarks. c.j.

CBS, September 26.
Robert and Michelle King, creators of The Good
