PATTERN NOTES
The 10 sts for the steek are always worked
with both colours, alternating them. On
t ho s e rou n d s wh e n on ly on e c olou r i s u s e d ,
continue in that single colour across the
steek.

Important note:
When working from charts, note that for
all sizes you will miss out some rounds of
the Body, and for all sizes except 2XL you

correct and Body and Sleeves are aligned
correctly when joining for Yoke. It may
help you to mark on the chart which
rounds to work.


BODY
Using 3mm circular needles and yarn D,
cast on 194 ( 218 :242: 272 :296: 320 ) sts, pm


and cast on 10 sts for steek.
Pm and join to work in the round, taking
care not to twist sts.
204 ( 228 :252: 282 :306: 330 ) sts;
194 ( 218 :242: 272 :296: 320 ) sts for Body
and 10 sts for steek.

Rib round: *K1, P1; rep from * to 10 sts for
steek, slm, knit across steek, slm.
Cont as set until rib meas 5cm from cast-on
edge.

Change to 4mm circular needles.
Knit 1 round.
Begin working from chart, knitting every
round and following pattern as given
until you have completed round
76 ( 74 :72: 76 :68: 64 ) of chart.

Important note:
M i s s out rou n d s 7 7 ( 75 :73: 77 :69: 65 ) to
115 ( 111 :101: 105 :88: 80 ) of chart.

Beginning again from round
116 ( 112 :102: 106 :89: 81 ), work to e n d of
round 128 ( 121 :118: 112 :109: 105 ) of chart.
Leave rem sts on a spare needle or waste
yarn while you work the sleeves.

NOTE: Take care to hold yarns consistently
so that colour dominance remains the
same throughout. Usually the yarn colour
held at the bottom then not being worked
will appear the most dominant.

SLEEVES
Using 3mm DPNs and yarn D, cast on
44 ( 48 :52: 56 :60: 60 ) sts.

P m a n d j oi n to work i n t h e rou n d , t a k i n g
care not to twist sts.
Rib round: *K1, P1; rep from * end.
Cont as set until rib meas 5cm from cast-on
edge.

Change to 4mm DPNs.
Knit 1 round, increasing 10 ( 6 :14: 10 :12: 18 )
sts evenly across round.
54 ( 54 :66: 66 :72: 78 ) sts.

Begin working from chart, working
rou n d s 1 to 76 ( 74 :72: 76 :66: 64 ),
missing out rou n d s 7 7 ( 75 :73: 77 :67:-) to
105 ( 96 :88: 85 :74:-) and then working
rounds 106 ( 97 :89: 86 :75: 65 ) to

SAME TIME, work increases as follows:

DARIO TUBIANA has a passion for
Fair Isle yoked garments, and his latest
design is a joyously colourful cardigan.
The body and sleeves are knitted in the
rou n d , t h e n j oi n e d to work t h e yoke.
The pattern incorporates a column of
steek stitches which are cut open; Dario
uses the crochet method to reinforce
the steek. An applied i-cord is worked
on to t h e e d ge s, to g ive a n e at f i n i sh. T h e
c a rd i ga n i s fa s te n e d at t h e n e c k w it h a
single button and a crochet button loop.
