This chunky delight is hand-spun by Chrissy Smith of Colwyn
Bay. It features a flecked base spun from grey Welsh Mule fleece
plied with alpaca; coloured nubs in blue, pink and green give
an effect that’s evocative of wild Welsh landscapes. The yarn
knits up into a firm yet soft fabric with a controlled stretch,
creating a finish that is filled with natural charm.

Like a glorious cloud, this yarn from North Wales-based Moel
View Yarn is a fluffy blend of baby suri alpaca and mulberry
silk. The laceweight yarn creates a super-soft, airy and fine
fabric with a featherlight drape. It is hand-dyed using natural
dyes and botanical extracts to create a delicate palette. This
yarn will make luxurious-feeling sweaters and accessories.

How about some hand-dyed heaven? Nellie and Eve’s yarns
are produced in Llanwrda, and are inspired by the changing
colours of the West Wales landscape. This Bluefaced Leicester-
Gotland wool blend offers a light, airy fabric, with snug
stretch, and we think it would be ideal for interseasonal wear.
It has a slight halo, a gentle tweedy finish, and comes in
a choice of beautiful shades created using plant dyes.

From sheep to mill to hand-dyeing studio, this heavy DK
is entirely produced within Wales. It comes in appealing
colours with an attractive, subtle variation in tone. This yarn
would be great for chunky sweaters and blankets, and comes
with a rewarding stretch, which bounces back quickly and
promises longevity for your knits. You’ll fall in love with its
heritage feel and traditional finish.
