The Knitter - UK (2019-09)

(Antfer) #1
CERAMICIST EMILY Cross
is well known for her
beautiful, functional yarn
bowls, and if you’ve been
to a wool festival this year,
the chances are you’ll have
seen her stand filled with
her unique and gorgeous creations. Emily
is launching a new pottery workshop
programme, and we were lucky enough
to be invited along for a taster session.
As well as having the chance to trim and
decorate our own yarn bowls to take home,
we were able to make and glaze ceramic
buttons to adorn our knitwear, and create
delicate porcelain pin dishes with nifty
magnets to hold pins and needles safely
in place. Under Emily’s expert guidance,
we also had a go at throwing mugs on the
potter’s wheel.
If you like the sound of spending a day
playing with clay and coming home with
a unique yarn bowl of your own, why not
enter our special competition? Emily is
offering our readers the chance to win a
six-hour workshop for two people at her
studio near Bath. For a chance to win,
simply enter your details online at
http://competition.immediate.co.uk/emily
The workshop will take place between
11th and 19th January 2020, and the winner
will be able to throw a mug, trim a yarn
bowl or decorate a ready-trimmed bowl,
as well as make some extra crafty goodies
such as porcelain buttons or pin dishes.
Light refreshments will be included.
Prize is not transferrable. Open to UK entrants only. Closing date is 11pm
on 16 October 2019. For other competition terms and conditions, visit
