PATTERN NOTES

central back panel in mosaic stitch from
the bottom to the top. Next, the right front

shoulder, with short rows used for neck
shaping. Stitches are then picked up from
the back panel and worked at the same
time as the remainder of the right front.
Sleeve stitches are placed on a holder and
the side seam is joined using a three-needle
cast-off. The sleeve stitches are then
continued down to the cuff. The left side
is completed the same way as the right.

All stitches are slipped purlwise.
On the RS, yarn is slipped at back of work;
on the WS, yarn is slipped at front of work.
(Cast on with A – then the slipped sts on
row 1 are in the right colour.)
Work sleeves in your preferred circular
knitting method i.e. using the Magic Loop
method, two circular needles, or double-
pointed needles.

CHOOSING THE CORRECT SIZE

sideways, choose a size based on the back

GERMAN SHORT ROWS
Work to t u r n i n g p oi nt, t u r n s o you’re re a dy

slip the first st purlwise then take the
working yarn over the RH needle and pull
up on the st until the st from the last row
pulls across the RH needle (it will look like
a strange double st), then knit as directed.
As you come to the ‘double stitches’ just
work the strands together as one stitch.

CAROL FELLER has designed a modern
colourwork panel in mosaic stitch to
decorate her cardigan. It appears on the
centre back of the garment; there are
added colourwork details on the cuffs.
Carol loves to play with construction,
and this design is knitted sideways. It
uses the soft and glowing Nua Worsted
from her yarn range, Stolen Stitches.
