Browsing picture-based subreddits such
as the popular landscape-photography
community EarthPorn (reddit.com/r/
EarthPorn) involves clicking lots of
indi vidual thre ads to view the full-size
images. If you’re not interested in
reading comments, add the letter ‘p’
after ‘reddit’ in the URL – for example
redditp.com/r/EarthPorn– to display
all the pictures (and videos) in the
subreddit as a slid eshow, which you can
click back and forth through or let play
automatically. There’s also an option to
filter NSFW (not safe for work) content.
Restore Reddit’s classic
design
Last year’s redesign annoyed lots of
loyal Reddit users, but you can still
revert to its ‘c lassic’ look: either type
oldbefore th e URL of a subreddit – for
example,old.reddit.com/r/movies– or
select Visit Old Reddit from the menuin
the top-right corner. Alternativ ely, instal l
the extension Old Reddit Redirect in
Chrome (bit.ly/oldc484) or Firefox
(bit.ly/oldf484) to automatically load
subreddits in the classic design. Unlike
Reddit’s own option, this also works in
Incognito mode.Install the Reddit
Enhancement Suite
Reddit’s lack of features has led millions
of users to instal l Reddit Enhancement
Suite (redditenhancementsuite.com).
Available for all major browsers, this
extension adds Never EndingReddit,
which removes the needto click ‘next
page’; keyboar d shortcuts for upvoting,
downvoting and hidingposts; an inline
image viewer; the ability to switch
between multiple accounts; clearer
presentation of comments; and more.Apply different themes

Reddit now has a dark theme,which you
can switch to by clicking the menuin
the top-right corner and choosing Night
Mode, but for proper customisation, youReddit is a brilliant but basic source of news

bottom-right corner that you can use to
switch between list and grid view,

navigate the site.Create a custom Reddit feed
If you subscribe to lots of subreddits,
keeping track of all their content via the
front page can be overwhelmin g, whil e
switchin g between separate
communities is time-consuming. Save
yourself hassle by creating a Custom
Feed (formerly called a ‘multireddit’) of
your favourite subreddits or some with
a similar topic. To do
this, click the menuin
the top-left corner
and click the plus sign
next to CustomFeeds.
Enter a name and
(optionally) a
description for your
feed, then select Crea te CustomFeed.
Now, type the names of th e desired
subreddits into the Manage
Communities box and click Add for each
one. Your Custom Feed(s) can then be
accessed via the top-left menu.Secret hacks

Like all social
networks, Reddit
supports itself
through advertising,
some in the form of
‘promoted’ posts
that are easy to
mist ake for genuine
ones. Upgrad ing to Reddit Premium
for $5.99 (£4.89) a month removes
thes e ads, but you can also filter
them fr om your feed using RedditBLOCK PROMOTED POSTS ON REDDITPromoted AdBlock
