If you ha ven’t usedyour Pi ina
while,you’ll needto make sure its
software is fully upto date. Open
Terminal and entersudo apt update
thensudo apt upgradeto download
and install all updates. Next, install
SAMBA, which letsyou print from
Windows devices,by enteringsudo
apt install samba.^1

The nextstep is to install CUPS
(Common UNIX PrintingSystem).
In Terminal, entersudo apt install
cupsthensudo usermod –a -G
lpadmin pi(replace ‘pi’ withyour
actual username ifyou changed it from
the default).^1 To allowremote access,
typecupsctl --remote-admin
--remote-any --share-printers.^2

You may needto reboot your Pi.
Now, openyour web br owser and
go to 127.0.0.1:631 to access the CUPS
admin page. Click theAdministration
tab^1 and log in withyour Pi username
and password. Connect the Pito your
printer (ifyou ha ven’t already) via
USB, then clickAdd Printer.^2

SharingCenter’ and click the ‘Change
advanced sharing settings’ link.
Make sure the ‘Network discovery’,
and ‘File and printer sharing’ settings
