The Add Printer page opens and
you’re presented with a list of
devicesyou can add, including local
and networked printers.Yours should
appear underLocal Printers.You can
alwaystryrefreshing the list(or
restartingyour Pi) if it doesn’t. Select
it,^1 then click theContinue button.^2

On the next screen,you canrename
the printertosomething easierto
recognise,^1 and enter an optional
description^2 and location.^3 Tick the
ShareThis Printer box(so you can
accessit over your network),^4 then
click theContinue button.^5

Select the make ofyour printer^1
and choose thecorrect model,^2
then clickAdd Printer.^3 On the final
screen, click Set Default Optionsto
make anyrequired changes, then print
a testpage from the Maintenance
menu.Connectyour PCtothe shared
printer throughStart, Settings,
Devices, ‘Printers & scanners’.

this printer’ and give the devicea

printer using a PC running a different
version ofWindows, you may needto


install some drivers. Click theAdditional
Drivers buttontodo this.Restartyour PC
(or log off and back on again) andyou
should bereadytoprint.
Toaccessyour printer from another
computer on the same network, type
printerin the search box and click
‘Printers & scanners’. In the Settings
window,click‘Add a printer or scanner’.
Windows10 automatically searchesfor
compatible devices, but with older

versions ofWindowsthere are some
additionalstepstofollow.Selectyour
printer in this list, click Next and
complete thestepstoset it up.
Touseyour printer from an Android
device or iPhone,you can use an app
such as Mobile Print - PrinterShare (bit.ly/
pshare484). The app itself is free, butyou
needtobuy a PremiumKey via an in-app
purchasetounlock all itsfeatures.This
costs £4.99 (iOS) or £3.45 (Android) and
letsyou print photos,contact or calendar
information,web pages, messages, Gmail
messages, documents, Google Drive
content and more.

Print from an iPhone or iPad
There arevariouswaystoprint from an
Apple mobile device but ourfavourite
app is Printer ProbyReaddle (bit.ly/
printpro484). Itcosts £6.99, which might
seem a littlesteep, butyou can use itto
print anything fromyour iPhone or iPad,
including documents, photos, emails,web
pages, clipboardcontents and Dropbox
items. It alsocomes with an incredibly
useful Print Options screen that letsyou
change the orientation, paper size,
scaling, number ofcopies andeven
specify the number of pages per sheet.
If your printer isconnectedtoa PC or
Mac,you needtoinstall the free Printer
Profor Desktop program (bit.ly/
ppdesk484) beforeyou can accessit
through the mobile app. Onceconnected,
you’ll be invitedtoprint atestpageto
make sure thateverything isworking
correctly.
