Pinand save items
Asmentionedin the previous
tip, selecting ‘Clear all’ from
the three-dot menudeletes
everythingstoredin your
clipboard. However, if you want
to retain any of the items, select
Pin to preservespecific clipboard
entries andexempt them from
the ‘Clear all’ action.
It’s not obvious which items are
pinned because there is novisual
clue, but if you clickthe three-dot
buttonfor aclipboard item, the menu
will offer to Unpinit if itis pinned.

Use the keyboard to control
clipboard
Whenyou’re using aword processor or
typing text into a web page, you may
prefer to use keyboard commands for
the clipboard, rather thaninterrupt your
flowto reach for the mouse. Press
Windows+Vto showthe clipboard
history, use the upand downarrowkeys
to select anitem, thenpressEnter to
paste it or the Delete keyto clear it.

Sync clipboard betweenPCs
Any text saved to the clipboard can be
syncedbetween Windows10 PCs, which
could comein handyif you’re using
more thanone Windows10 device.

Whenswitching from one deviceto
another, clipboard items followyou
andcan beusedin your appsandweb
pages.
Toenable this feature, which is
disabled bydefault, openthe Settings
app andselect System, Clipboard.

efore the arrival of Windows10, the
Windowsclipboard only let you cut,
copyandpaste one itemat a time.
Now you can copylots of thingsfrom
various programs, thenswitchto another
andchoose the itemyou want to paste.
OpenWindows10’s Settings, select
System, Clipboard, thenturn on‘Clipboard
history’. Now, opena programthat lets
you copyandpaste, suchas WordPad,
andpressCtrl+C to copyseveral bits of
text. Press Windows+Vto list everything
that was copied andselect the one you
want to paste. Use the mouse wheel to
scroll through the list of clipboard items
if there are lots of them.

Clearclipboard history
There may betimes whenyou copy
something to the clipboard that you
don’t want anyoneelse to see –for
example, if you share your computer
with colleagues orfamily members,
andhavecopied andpasteda password
into a programor web page.
While you’re in a programyou can
paste to, press Windows+Vto showthe
clipboard history. Click the three-dot
menuin the top-right corner of anitem
andselect Delete to clear it fromthe
history. Select the ‘Clear all’ menuitem
if you want to delete everything.
Another methodis to press Windows+i
and goto System, Clipboard, thenclick
the Clear buttonnearthe bottom.
