I don’t have any use for a
sophisticated word processor and

improvement but I have never managed
to get the auto spellcheckerto work. For
thisreason, I decidedto get rid of

work? If I can’t do this, I’drather delete
the Apache suite. What is the bestway

keyboard on a laptop can be
tricky, andthe ease or difficulty will
depends on the design. Most modern
laptops can’t be openedor repairedcan get stuck in keyboards and
removing themmay solve the
problem. Turn the laptop off, hold it
upside downand gently shake it to
dislodge anythingunder the keys. Use
the pipe accessory on a vacuum
cleanerwith astocking over the end
to suck out anythingthat maybe
trapped under the keys.
If the keys still don’t work, try using
an external keyboard instead. It’s not
an idealsolution with alaptop, but
a USB or wirelesskeyboard will work
as soon as it’s plugged in, with no
needto configure it or install extra

Take a look at your laptop’s
construction andsee whetherit’s easy

If you don’t feel confident taking
apart your laptop – after all, you might
make the problem worse or even
damageits components – there are a
couple of easy alternatives you can try,
which may work if you’re lucky.
Dust, food crumbs andotherdebriswords as soon as they were typed.
Make sure spellchecking is turned on
in your version of OpenOffice by going
to Tools, ‘Spelling andGrammar’. A
window opens highlighting spelling
errors andoffering replacements. Click
Options to see alist of spelling and
grammaritems, such as ‘Check spelling
as you type’. Make sure this isturned on.
OpenOffice is uninstalled in the usual
way –open the Control Panel and
double-click ‘Programs andFeatures’.
In Windows10, open the Settings app,option andclick Delete.
Several years ago, a group of
developers left OpenOffice andused
the source code to create LibreOffice
(www.libreoffice.org). The latter
programwas updated just a few weeks
ago, soif you are having problemswith
OpenOffice, try switching to LibreOffice.
To prevent uninstaller problems,
you could use the Portable Apps
versions of OpenOffice (bit.ly/opoff484)
or LibreOffice ( bit.ly/liboff484). When
run, they unzipto the Downloads folder
