NOVEMBER / DECEMBER 2016 SCOTTISH ISLANDS EXPLORER 5
VISION FOR 2020
David Hoult writes: The islands of
Scotland boast some beautiful
and distinctive golf courses. The
latest is currently under construc-

likely to be among the more
impressive. Many existing ones
are also in wonderfully scenic
locations. On which islands are
the following golf courses
located?
- Machrie
- Askernish
- Dale
- Sconser
- Cleat
- Shiskine
- Scarista
- Vaul
- Skaw
- Balvicar

Quiz: Insular Golf
Courses
Here we are with the final issue of 2016 and 17 years of publishing complete. The magazine
started on Fair Isle, moved to the south coast of England and has now settled down in ...
Suffolk, with a back office on Lewis. It’s that time of year when the need to keep-in-touch is
paramount and what better for a present than a publication which keeps on coming (through
the letter-box) for a whole year or beyond?

Clarification
The St Kilda gannet colony figure (quoted in the
September / October 2016 edition) was, indeed,
60,000 pairs of breeding birds, but in 2014 the
Bass Rock became the world’s largest Northern
Gannet colony with 75,000 pairs of birds.
