CASUAL READERS OF SI KIDS might recall
that in our last issue we devoted two pages
22-season pro career. “I have loved my NFL career,
and now it is time to focus my time and energy
on other things that require my attention,” he said
in a statement. Well, before the issue even left the
printing plant, Brady had decided the other things
would have to wait, and he unretired.
Astute readers of SI KIDS will note that we
prepared for such an outcome: The text above the
headline says “Farewell (For Now).” Not only does
Brady seem like the kind of guy who was born to
play football—possibly forever—but there’s a long
history of big-name athletes realizing that life on
the sidelines isn’t always what it’s cracked up to be.

be indecisive.
So when one says
they’re retiring,
maybe wait
a while before you
say goodbye.
