Twenty-five artists last year “deauthored” their work in the
Zabludowiczs’ extensive collection because of the London
couple’s links with Israel. Poju, 69, is the son of the late
Shlomo Zabludowicz, a Holocaust survivor who began
Soltam, the family business, in the arms trade before moving
into property. The collection features 5,000 works by 500
artists, mostly from Europe and North America, showcased in
a former Methodist chapel in north London that the couple
have turned into a gallery. Poju was born in Helsinki; his wife,
Anita, 61, is Newcastle upon Tyne born and bred. They said
last year they “passionately support a two-state solution”
in the Middle East. Their company, Tamares, sold its British
Israel Property operation for $700 million in 2011. Tamares
Hotels sold three properties in 2020 — two in Tel Aviv and the
third on the shores of the Dead Sea. The couple have “his and
hers” mansions on the Bishops Avenue in Hampstead, one of
