Moulding, who turned 50 in February, has had a miserable year. The
London float of his Manchester-based THG, formerly The Hut Group,
in 2020 precipitated a 90 per cent slide in its value. He and his wife,
Jodie, have watched their 25 per cent stake, worth more than £2
billion a year ago, dwindle to £267.5 million. Moulding sold shares
worth £54 million at the float and collects £19 million a year in rent
on THG’s £300 million property portfolio. 2021: £2.1bn, 78

Divorce and songwriting

A £400 million divorce settlement last year books Bertarelli’s
place in our list in her own right. The 50-year-old mother of
three — a former beauty queen — ended her marriage to
Ernesto Bertarelli, the Italian-born pharmaceuticals
billionaire, after 21 years together.
Born Kirsty Roper in Stone, Staffordshire, Bertarelli was
crowned Miss UK in 1988 and went on to be second runner-up
in the Miss World pageant. Her real passion, however, is
music. She co-wrote Black Coffee, a No 1 hit for the girl band
All Saints, with lyrics inspired by her love-at-first-sight
meeting with Ernesto, who inherited the Swiss-based drugs
manufacturer Serono during the 1990s with his sister. Four
albums followed and a string of singles.
Ernesto reportedly gave her a 315ft superyacht, the Vava II,
for her 40th birthday. She owns a modern mansion worth
£52 million overlooking Lake Geneva and an £8 million ski
chalet in the Swiss resort of Gstaad, as well as UK property.

Divorce

Princess Haya was last year awarded Britain’s biggest divorce payout
— £554 million — after she fled her marriage to Sheikh Mohammed
bin Rashid al-Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai, in fear for her life. The
48-year-old daughter of the late King Hussein of Jordan became
the youngest of the sheikh’s six wives in 2004 and has two children.
A judge ruled that the sheikh had targeted her with Pegasus spyware.
She owns a £100 million home near Kensington Palace in London
and a 12-bedroom Surrey property near Windsor.
