The winner in the turnover under
£5m category went to Matillion, an
Altrincham-based software company.
They won over Volcanic UK, Pioneer
Group and medtech company,
Elucigene Diagnostics.
And the Young Business of the Year
prize was picked up by Ancoats-based
branding company, Noir Agency,
which pipped Agile Automations and
Expert Packaging.
The event was once again hosted by
news presenter Nicholas Owen, while
guest speaker was David Fishwick, the

self-made businessman who set up his

own bank in Burnley - ‘Bank on Dave!’

Begum said: “The fast moving world of

tech has led to companies across all

sectors having to redefine their

business models to adapt to rapid

changes in digital to keep up with

consumer demand.

“And we’ve seen this change

massively in this year’s winning firms.

“From Auto Trader, CarFinance,

Cardinal Maritime to Matillion, these

companies are big tech operators

which are continuing to redefine the

way they do business.”

She added: “What is great about

these awards is they recognise the

achievements of businesses of all

shapes and sizes and at all stages of

their growth journeys.

“The region’s best businesses are of

huge importance to us all, in terms of

creating jobs, economic output and

creating a general sense of optimism

and well-being.

“That is why it is great to celebrate

their success.
