summit of Gowbarrow Fell
The Ullswater Way is a
20-mile walking route, which
was established in the wake of
2015’s Storm Desmond and
officially opened in April 2016.
The route is designed to be
flexible – if you do not have time
to complete the route, you can
combine a shorter section with a
trip on the Ullswater Steamer.
The Ullswater Way is broken
into four sections: Pooley Bridge
to Aira Force (10.7km/6.5
miles), Aira Force to Glenridding
(4.6km/3 miles); Glenridding to
Howtown (10.5km/6.5 miles)
and Howtown to Pooley Bridge
(8km/5 miles).
The Official Guide to the
Ullswater Way, written by Mark
Richards, is available from Shops
in the Ullswater Valley and from
