by decals, which are perfectly
adequate at this scale. Detail
painting of the side consoles was
straightforward, with raised panels,

buttons and knobs easily picked
out with a small brush. The cockpit
sidewalls are also very nicely
detailed with a representation of

quilted panels. Once painted and
highlighted they really look the
part, but are almost completely
hidden once the separate cockpit
upper side panels are added.
A separate cockpit rear deck
is provided, which features
some finely rendered wiring and
pipework. If you intend to pose
the rear canopy open, it’s worth
spending some time painting
these, as they’re clearly visible
through the glazing. A flat
intermediate windscreen is also
included, which fits between the
two cockpits, sandwiched between
the mid-canopy hoop halves. A
pair of nicely moulded gun sights,
moulded in transparent plastic,
round off a very convincing
looking cockpit assembly.

FUSELAGE
Within the fuselage, just in
front of the cockpit, sits a nicely
detailed bulkhead/avionics bay,
which contains several separate
compressed gas bottles and
some more wiring detail. The kit
supplies two bay doors, (which
form the upper nose cowling),
one in the open position and one
closed up; the choice is yours. The
underside of the bulkhead/shelf
also forms the nose wheel bay,
which is similarly detailed with gas
bottles and wiring, and again needs
careful painting with light washes
to lift out the moulded detail.
At the other end a four-
piece jet pipe assembly fits
within the fuselage, and
includes a representation of the
engine’s rear turbine face.
