Tmagic to upgrade this kit to a GR Mk.V, coastal command Liberator he bulk of the plastic in this box is by Hasegawa, but Eduard have worked their
with the addition of a brand new clear sprue, with the correct gun turrets for the British version.
There is also a new grey moulded sprue with the rest of the parts for the gun turrets, but also contains new propellers, a searchlight and
all of the parts for the fuselage mounted rockets system. Eduard have also included two phot-
etch sheets, one in colour, as well as a very complete set of masks for all of the glazing and there is quite a lot of glazing!
find an A4 76-page book, the printed version is in Czech, but a In the bottom of box, you will translation should be available on the Eduard website by the time you read this. The book give a history of the RAF Coastal Command Liberators, with sections on the GR

Mk.III and GR Mk.V. The book then goes on to describe the aircraft that are featured in the kit. As well as
details of each aircraft there are biographies of some of the pilots

who flew them with 311 Squadron. The book is illustrated throughout with contemporary black and white photos and some superb colour
profiles and plans. The book forms the ideal one stop reference for your build and will certainly help you to get the weathering right!
Hasegawa plastic is spot on with no flash and recessed panel lines As you would expect the
as appropriate. The two new Eduard sprues are just as good as the Hasegawa and if they didn’t have Eduard moulded on them
you would be hard pressed to tell them apart! There will be a lot of parts for your spares box

Tduring the Second World War. The book covers the authors learning to fly his new book from Fonthill Media offers a personal account of a young man’s experiences flying
in Canada and subsequent service as a pilot/navigator on Liberators based in Iceland. The book describes the battle of the North Atlantic, the role of protecting
the Atlantic Convoys and the hunting of U-boats, mixed with the perils of flying in the harsh climate. The book does
have a section of photographs many of which are from private collections and are previously unpublished. Whilst the book from Eduard supplied
in the kit is predominantly a visual reference book, this one gives you a real insight to what it was like to be there.
As a modeller, I like to find out about the people who flew and operated my chosen subject and for me personally, this book ticks that box by giving me a
real insight into what it was like to fly one of these Liberators in action over the unforgiving waters of the North Atlantic. My thanks to Fonthill Media
for supplying this book for review. Recommended reading if you like to get the background to your subjects.

As this is a Preview Plus, we present one more item for your consideration, a new book from Fonthill Media offers a personal account
of a young mans experiences flying Costal Command Liberators.

ollowing on from their
recent release of a 1/48
scale Gee Bee racer Dora
Wings are in the early stages of

producing a 1/144 scale version. In
this scale a Gee Bee racer will be
tiny and will certainly challenge
most modellers painting skills
due to the scallops seen on most
Gee Bee paint schemes. We have
already seen the decal sheets for
Dora Wings upcoming Vega Gull
but now we have the box art and it
is stunning. We are certainly in a
golden age for box top artwork.

ir Graphic Models are
producing a limited run
conversion using anew
injection moulded plastic fuselage
plus resin details to convert
Italeri’s Aermacchi MB339A into
the MB339C. This version was
used by the New Zealand Air Force
and following their retirement,
a number of the type have been
sold and are currently used as
Aggressor aircraft in the private
ownership in the United States.

I

t is hard to believe that the
Huanebu Luft 46 flying
saucer would attract one
manufacturer let alone two but
that is what has happened. As
Revell has announced that their
take on this subject developed
with Korean Manufacturer
Hand & Head. I am not sure how
popular this kit will be but the
box art showing a Haunebu
attacking B-36 Peacemakers
is certainly striking.

Welcome back

A

big announcement from
Wingnut Wings this
month, with the reissue
of four kits including the much
sought after Sopwith Triplane.
But that is not all as each of
these new releases are dedicated
to a famous pilot and include a
decal sheet to model his specific
aircraft. The most famous is
Richthofen and his over red
Albatross D.V and the second
German ace is Immelmann

and his Fokker Eindecker E.II.
For the RFC we have Lanoe
Hawker and his AMC DH.2 and
finally for the RNAS Collishaw’s
Sopwith Triplane Black Maria.
But even better each of these
kits will include an example of
the long awaited resin figures
that were first announced
a number of years ago.
These figures are all the
work of Mark Good and each one
captures the facial characteristics

of the individual pilot very well.
And the goods news does
not stop as Wingnut Wings
are suggesting that these kits
will come at the same price
as the original releases.
Of course, no release date
has been confirmed but they will
be this year. And there is also
a suggestion that we will get
another announcement in time for
next months issue, so watch space.

ine Molds have a history
of producing an eclectic
range of aircraft in
1/144, 1/72 and 1/48 but there
latest release will find a home
in many 1/48 scale Japanese
themed Aircraft collections.
The Ki-15 Babs started life as
a civilian light mail plane and
was the first Japanese aircraft to
fly between London and Tokyo
in 3 days in 1937. The type was
developed into a light bomber
used in the second Sino-Japanese

war though it rapidly became
outdated and by 1943 had been
retired from front line service.
In the closing stages of the war,
many Ki-15s were converted
for use in Kamikaze attacks.
Fine Molds have shared

with us the box art and a shot
of the computer aide design
drawings for the cockpit,
which shows a very high level
of detail, will be included.
We will give you more news
as this project developments
and Hobbylink Japan will
have this kit as soon as it is
released later this summer.
