Islands as Natural Laboratories


The basaltic massif of Teno is one of the oldest parts of the
island of Tenerife (Canary archipelago), dating back about
8 million years. It is only within the last 1.5 Ma or so that the
great acidic volcanic cycle of Las Cañadas unified the old
basaltics massifs of Teno, Adeje and Anaga to form what we
know today as the island of Tenerife.
