wrist, hand, leg, ankle or foot of the victim (see Fig. 9.2.). The trap is attached to a metal
chain which is tethered to the ground. Traps are sometimes quite unnecessarily large —
big enough to seriously injure a buffalo or a human being. Chimpanzees do engage in
crop-raiding from time to time and as a result get caught in these traps, usually with
disastrous consequences (see below).
