In this chapter we have looked at the human pressures on chimpanzees and seen how
human perceptions of them differ in some respects from their perceptions of other crop-
raiding species. In the next chapter we look at a situation in a village to the south of
Budongo Forest where, because of excessive population pressure, perceptions of chim-
panzees have changed for the worse, and actions towards them have become highly
antagonistic.
