and sagittate leaves of the phytomorph (Fig. 1.25a) fit rather well for
Dioscorea mexicanaSchweidw., Mexican yam (Figs. 1.25b and 1.25c).
This vine is native from northern to southern Mexico to Panama. This
is a source of diosgenin. - Fol. 99r #28.Dioscoreasp., cf.D. remotiflora(Fig. 1.26).The 28th
phytomorph on fol. 99r (Fig. 1.26a) is most probablyDioscorea remo-
tifloraKunth (Fig. 1.26b) which is native from northern to southern
