    dentate leaves (Fig. 1.45a), and stolons matchPenthorum sedoidesL.
    (Figs. 1.45b and 1.45c), quite well. This is a New World species native
    from Canada to Texas. The artist, though, has apparently illustrated this
    in very early bud (or glossed over the details of the flowers) because
    the prominent pistils emerge later, and are very obvious in fruit, often
    turning rosy.
