mitriy Pichugin

spent most of his

childhood living

in a military town,

surrounded by friends

and acquaintances in the

Russian armed forces. It

was here that he developed

a love of aviation. In his

youth, strict censorship

was imposed in the Soviet

Union and it was almost

impossible to photograph

military aircraft. However, as the

rules were relaxed he was able

to combine his love of aviation

and photography, becoming

a photojournalist in 2006. For

the past 12 years he has visited

most aviation regiments of the

Russian Aerospace Forces from

Kaliningrad to Kamchatka, as

well as traveling overseas for

exercises and deployments.
