double-seater version that served
as a trainer and night fighter, and
Wikingerschiff (Viking Boat) bomb
racks, as used on Jabo (fighter-

future versions, although we’d need
a new fuselage, rudder, and clear
parts for the trainer/night fighter
(now announced for release in 2018).

LET’S BUILD!
The 262’s bathtub-style cockpit
is a simple and easy assembly,
providing adequate detail for this
scale. I painted the cockpit interior
RLM66 (Gunze/Mr. Hobby H416),
while the fuselage halves and the
outside of the tub were sprayed
Aluminum (Tamiya TS-17). With
this kit the editor had also sent
Eduard’s photo-etch set (ED73600),
containing pre-colored etch for

the cockpit and various exterior
parts. I used their very convincing
instrument panel and seatbelts,
as well as a piece of acetate for the
gun sight, but I omitted most of
the smaller parts, like the pedals,
as they will never be seen again
once everything’s closed up. I did,
however, add some photo-etch
pieces and cables from stretched
sprue to the undercarriage bay.
Airfix suggests fixing the
cockpit tub to the lower wing and
inserting it into the assembled
fuselage from below. I went the
other way and fixed the cockpit
