Heavy Metal World War One Style

ingnuts announced a few weeks
before Nuremberg that they
would be announcing their latest
kit some weeks before the Fair opened
and there have been many guesses as
to its identity many of which including
my own were well wide of the mark.
This is the second kit of a Junkers corrugated
aircraft as the J.1 ground attack aircraft was in
there first ever batch of releases. The Junkers
D.1 fighter saw very limited service at the end
of the war so the choice of colour schemes is

somewhat limited. But there are quite a few
photographs showing these aircraft dissembled
and Wingnuts have taken advantage of this
by enabling you to show the wings removed
revealing the interior structure. Making this
kit a natural for some very nice dioramas.
To see the full details of this kit plus
the comprehensive instructions visit the
Wingnuts website at http://www.wingnutwings.
com. This kit will be released for worldwide
sale on the 24th April 2018 from all Wingnuts
stockist as well as their website.

Lots of boxes

R

evell’s main emphasis was on
Star Wars kits this year with
some new models to tie in with
the prequel Solo at the end of the year.
So there were few new aircraft kits on
display. The exception was the new 1/32
scale F/A-18E Super Hornet in quite a
striking colour scheme. Delivery of this
kit has slipped slightly and we should
expect to see in on the shelves in May. A
number of boxes for future kits were on
display including that for the Antonov
An-225 Mrija the worlds largest aircraft.
And though this is the worlds largest
aircraft in 1/144 there are bigger plastic
kit but this comes in the same size box
as the Revell /Mongram B-36 and B-29!

rengun had a number of new
kits on display but the ones that
caught my eye was the display of
Okha Kamikaze aircraft, which will soon
include the two-seat trainer version.
Russia’s 757

Z

vezda’s latest 1/144 scale airliner was on
display, the Tupolev Tu-204 is roughly
equivailent to Boeing’s 757 and is still in
production after 30 years though to date only 83
have been produced compared to over 1000 757’s.
This does rather limit the decal options
possible with this kit especially as it is of
the rarer -100 but I am sure later variants
will follow over the next few years.
