Eduard Press Conference 2018

O

ne of the highlights of
the Nuremberg Show
is the presentation by
Eduard’s CEO Vladimir Sulc of
their key programmes not only
for 2018 but also into 2019.
We had a lot of new
announcements including
the launch of a new range of
products and one piece of news
that will disappoint many.

THE LARGEST RANGE
It was inevitable that the new
tool 1/48 scale Focke Wulf Fw-
190 family would take up a lot
of the announcement. The first
boxing from this all new tool was
released in 2017 and will replace
Eduard’s original tooling. The
first generation Fw190 was the
best-selling kits that Eduard have
ever produced with over 140,000
examples sold in 29 different boxes.
The new range started with the
A-4 and will continue with A-3, A-5
and A-8 and though not mentioned
at the press conference it has been
said that we may also get the A-2
which is currently only available
in the Early Fw-190 Royal edition.
The A-8 will also feature in
a boxing entitled Defence of the
Reich, in this kit you will also get
a Messerschmitt Bf109G-6 and six
marking options for aircraft with
the colourful Reich defence bands
used to identify different squadrons.
In 2019 we will get the A-5
with a four-gun wings as well as
the A-8 nightfighter and finally
the F-8 Ground attack version.
No announcement about long
nose D’s but I would expect
these to appear in 2019-20.

BUT ONLY JUST
If the Focke Wulf is the largest
range to date the 1/48 scale
Messerschmitt Bf109 late version
first released in 2016 is not far
behind with 13 boxing to date with
a further 4 to come in the next year
including the G-10, which will be
launched at the US Nationals in
August. This will be followed by

the G-14AS and K models in 2019
with the Avia built Jumo engined
variants to follow in 2019-20.

CO-OPERATIONS
As in previous years, Eduard are
cooperating with other major
manufacturers who will
supply the kit to which Eduard
add resin and etched brass and
aftermarket quality decals.
This year the Hasegawa 1/48
scale F-104J Starfighter will
be upgraded, and this will
include some very colourful
Japanese options and the
Hawker Typhoon will be
released with new markings
and changes to the canopy.
The second cooperation with be
with Trumpeter who will supply
there 1/48 scale Mig-23 to enable
Eduard to produce a Mig-23 with
Czech markings and this release
will also include a reference book
on the type covering the
types Czech service.
But the biggest project
is the conversion of
Hasegawa’s 1/72 scale
Consolidated Liberator
in to the British Gr.Mk5
and Mk.6. This is the
first time that Eduard has
produced new plastic for
one of there cooperation
kits. The extras carry a
selection of gun turrets

as well as new plastic to supply the
correct propeller blades as well as
the Leigh light, Dumbo chin radar
as well as the aerofoil wings on
each side of the fuselage which
holds the rocket armament.
