THE BIG PROJECT
The big project for this
year is the release of an
all new Tempest family
in 1/48 scale and from the
CAAD’s on display this is
obviously a labour of love and
considering the complicated
nature of the cockpit areas
on this type is proving a real
challenge for the toolmakers.
Eduard is aiming
for a September release
at E-Day but if there are any
unforeseen problems this may
slip to the end of the year.

THE LITTLE PROJECT
Further along than the Tempest
with the first test
shots on display
is the start of the
new Mig-21 family
in 1/72 scale.
This is not just a
scaled down version
of the 1/48 scale kit
and in some areas,
it actually has more
detail. It also has an
improved assembly
process which will
enable you to fit

the nose radar cone and the jet
exhausts after the main painting
has been completed. The initial
releases will cover the Mig-21MF
fighter-bomber and interceptor
versions and will start to appear
on the hobby shop shelves in May.

THE BAD NEWS
Such an extensive schedule has
led to the delay in two projects
announced last year. Both the 1/72
scale Fokker D.VII and 1/48 scale
North American P-51 Mustang are
now scheduled for a 2019-20 release.

LÖÖK AT THIS!
When we entered the press
conference we were handed a sealed
envelope with strict instructions
not to open it till we were told to.
At the end of the conference, we
were told to open the envelope to
reveal that Eduard is producing a

whole new range called LÖÖK.
At the US Nationals, we saw the
first sets that had pre-coloured
etched brass with lenses in clear
resin lenses moulded in place.
Now they have taken this one
stage further by combing the pre-
finished and lens technology and
adding it to the resin to produce a
drop-in replacement instrument
panel that is the best I have ever
seen. The new LOOK sets will also
include a set of seat belts that
feature a subtle weathering effect.
The sample in the envelope
supplied what will be of the first
releases in June and is designed
for the new 1/32 scale Revell
Mustang and we have been
told that Eduard are looking at
producing two new sets a month
in both 1/72 and 1/48 scale.
I am sure these sets will ignite
a debate about modelling versus
kit sticking, but personally, I
like this concept because if you
are time poor or less skilled in
painting you can get a beautiful
look straight out of the box.

THAT’S ALL FOLKS
But I am sure I may have missed
something so check out the full listing
to see all of Eduard’s new release as
well as all the other manufacturers
who were at Nuremberg.
