Profimodeller

T

his month Profimodeller
has supplied us with
an experimental glider
bomb in 1/32 scale, designed to
fit on a Messerschmitt Me 262.
I must admit that this unusual
bomb was previously unknown
to me before we received this
sample for review. The glider
bomb involved a standard 262
with a tow point added below
the tail fin, to which the bomb
was attached by a linking rod.
The bomb itself was either an
SC500 or SC1000, which had a
basic wing attached to the top
of it. The combination proved
unsuccessful due to control issues
and was not used operationally.
On opening the robust box
you will find that the parts are
cleanly cast in cream resin.
Optional parts are supplied to
make either the SC1000 or SC500
version, as well as the take-
off dolly wheels that attach to
the underside of the bomb.

262 (for any suitable 1/32 scale Me262
A1 kit).

CONCLUSION
If you fancy a different looking Me
262 then this conversion set may well
appeal. My thanks to Profimodeller
for supplying these samples for
review. For more information
on this and other Profimodeller
releases, visit http://www.profimodeller.

purchased from Hannants.

BarracudaCast

T

his month BarracudaCast
have supplied us with
a couple of sets for the
new 1/32 scale Revell Spitfire,
as well as a must-have for the
Eduard Fw.190 in 1/48 scale.
Revell’s new Spifire Mk. IX
is upgraded with two sets. The
first replaces the inaccurate
kit seat with a beautifully scale
replacement that includes a
representation of the back
padding and rear armour plate.
The second set supplies what
Barracudacast call a snapshot
upgrade, supplying resin parts
that include complete sidewalls
for both sides of the fuselage, plus
many other details, including
electrical boxes, joystick, compass,
throttle, and gun sight. This set
also includes a full complement
of stencils and placards, which
will really make the cockpit the
centre of attention of your model.
Also for the Spitfire, but in 1/72
scale, you have a set that supplies
a pair of cockpit entry doors,
with the separate crowbar that is
normally mounted in this area.
For the new Eduard 1/48
Fw-190A kits, we have a new set
that replaces the kit’s exhausts
with resin examples; unlike
the kit examples, the ends are
realistically hollowed out.

CONCLUSION
These sets are simple upgrades
compared to the kits’ plastic,
and can be added with minimal
preparation. I like the fact that both
the Eduard exhaust and Spitfire
door sets supply two examples each,
making them very good value.

We thank Roy Sutherland of
Barracuda Studios for supplying
us with the review samples.

PJ Productions

P

J Production have
supplied us with another
of their new releases,
described as a French pilot
1970s-90s, but obviously
aimed at the new 1/32 scale
Italeri Mirage III family.
The kit is made up from
a body, with separate arms,
plus two heads. One has the
visor down, while the second
has the visor in the raised
position to reveal the pilot’s
face. This will be handy if we
get a two-seat Mirage, as we
can then have two different-
looking pilots in the cockpit.

CONCLUSION
I like the fact that the
manufacturer supplies two
alternate heads, for two reasons.
The first is so you have two non-
identical twins, if you are building
two models, or if you are building
a two-seat aircraft. But also, for
modellers like me with limited
face painting skills, the lowered
visor is much appreciated.
This figure and all the PJ
Productions range can be
ordered from their web site
at http://www.pj-production.be and
we thank them for supplying
us with the review sample.
