Unit 1
Diagram 13
- Using fabrics 6–8, repeat
steps 1–3 to make F1 and F2 strip
sets and cut four each of segments
F1 and F2 (Diagram 8). - Using fabrics 7 and 8, repeat
steps 1–3 to make G1 and G2 strip
sets and cut four each of segments
G1 and G2 (Diagram 9).
10. Referring to Diagram 10, trim
a 3×42" fabric 8 strip at a 45° angle,
starting from upper left-hand corner.
Measuring from trimmed edge,
cut strip into four 4^1 ⁄ 4 "-wide H1
segments. Repeat with remaining
fabric 8 strip, trimming at 45° angle
from bottom left-hand corner, to
make four 4^1 ⁄ 4 "-wide H2 segments.
Assemble Blocks
- Referring to Diagram 11, lay
out one each of segments A1–H1.
Pin segment B1 atop segment A1,
off setting strips^1 ⁄ 2 " and carefully
matching diagonal seams; seam lines
should intersect^1 ⁄ 4 " from fabric
edges (Diagram 12). Sew together
segments. Join remaining segments
in same manner. - Referring to Diagram 13, trim
(^3) ⁄ 8 " from corners of dark green fl oral
(fabric 7) pieces to make Unit 1.
